ZZAP! Live 2026

The A1200 NG demonstrated on the Amiga Kit stand: upgrades announced for this summer

ZZAP! Live 2026 in Coventry, UK, is a multi-platform retro computing show held every year. It is organised by Chris Wilkins of Retro Fusion Books, who once again did an excellent job. The event continues to grow in size and popularity each year, and this year a larger hotel venue was used, with around five hundred visitors attending. A large number of those visitors were Amiga enthusiasts.

Amiga Kit once again had a stand at the show, and it was the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the A1200 NG running the latest AmiBench system software.

Visitors were very interested to see the A1200 NG in action, and there were many positive comments about the system. In particular, people were impressed that the A1200 NG supports real 880K / 1.76MB floppy disks and Commodore-compatible 9-pin joystick ports.

The A1200 NG demonstrated running the latest AmiBench and AmiBrowser

The A1200 NG was first offered for sale in December 2024, and since then many units have been shipped across Europe, the USA and Australia. The system has come a long way since its debut, with numerous free AmiBench updates released, including important software such as AmiPDF, AmiBrowser, EditPad and ScummVM 3.

When we created the A1200 NG, we wanted it to be a great way to enjoy the huge library of classic OCS/ECS/AGA games. At the same time, our goal is to evolve AmiBench into a true daily driver environment. We have continued to add new software features to move the system towards that goal.

Visitors to the AmigaKit stand were also pleased to hear that the long-awaited A1200 NG accelerator upgrade will be unveiled this summer. This expansion is expected to deliver nearly 2000 MIPS of performance.

In addition, a modern printer driver package has now been created by our in-house developer. AmiPrint will allow printing directly from the A1200 NG to modern printers, whether connected locally or available on the local network. Further details about this software package will be announced very soon.

It was a pleasure meeting so many customers at the show. We would like to thank A1200 NG users for their patience and support as we continue producing more A1200 NG motherboards, releasing new system updates and preparing future upgrades.
